For a city like Newcastle, football isn’t just a sport, it is a way of life. Geordies are known the world over for their unwavering passion in their support of their beloved Newcastle United.
Being the only football club in the city, Newcastle United is the talk of the ‘Toon’ with their recent success on the pitch. Newcastle United have managed to turn relegation in the 2015/2016 season into immediate promotion back to the Premier League for the 2017/2018 season. Not only have they gained automatic promotion, but they have won the Championship outright to add to their already impressive achievements.
Many students on our Pathway programmes enjoy spending down time both watching and playing football. For some, the Premier League and all its star players are a big reason why they choose to study in the UK over many other countries around the world.
Now our students can be excited that Newcastle United will welcome the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United to St James’ Park from next season. Students can also benefit from reduced ticket prices available for students, making the experience of watching Premier League football even more accessible. And with St James’ Park just a 15 minute walk from the campus, there a few better opportunities to sample some Premier League excitement when studying in the UK.
