Introducing Our New Standalone English for University Studies
Our new-look English for University Studies (EUS) is an English programme for international students who wish to study and develop English language skills in the student friendly city of Newcastle.
The EUS starts in October 2020, with further intakes in January and July 2021 and improves learners’ English language skills in both social and academic contexts. By studying the EUS, learners will study alongside our pathway students who are progressing onto Northumbria University and be a part of and welcomed into our student community.
This is a perfect opportunity to experience what it is like to be a student at Northumbria University and a chance to experience studying at a UK institution, without committing to long-term study.
All of our English tutors are experienced in working with students from diverse backgrounds and are skilled in adapting the teaching style and content to support learning.
The EUS builds everyday English language confidence as well as focussing on vocabulary and grammar, including developing reading and writing strategies that allow for effective participation in class.
Newcastle is a fantastic city to study English. Consistently voted the top student city in the UK, Newcastle is known as a friendly and lively city that offers an exciting social life, extensive sports facilities and access to the rest of North-East England and beyond.
Whilst this programme is for international students looking to learn English, we encourage learners to explore the courses available to them at Northumbria University.
