About James

James has taught English language and English for Academic Purposes in a wide range of contexts; including in South Korea, Sudan, China and here in the UK. He previously worked for HBU-UCLan, where he was the module lead for Academic Reading and Academic Presentations on the Foundation Year Programme, and INTO Newcastle, where he taught on the Graduate Diploma Programme.  James has also taught on a pre-sessional English course at The University of Sheffield.

In terms of research interests, he is interested in taking an ethnomethodological approach to analysing real-world interaction in the context of second language use. James recently co-authored a paper, based on his Master’s dissertation, which has been published in ‘Linguistics and Education’. This also formed the basis of a talk he gave at the British Association of Applied Linguistics 2021 conference.
