Our Chinese students are involved in a wide range of clubs and societies through our Students’ Union, including our very popular Chinese Students and Scholars Association. You can see the full range of societies on the Students’ Union website.
Newcastle is one of only 5 cities in the UK with a Chinatown. Here you’ll be able to find a range of Chinese supermarkets and restaurants as well as the annual celebration of Lunar New Year. The Chinatown is located to the west of the city, in Grainger Town mainly on Stowell Street and is less than a 15 minute walk from the Northumbria University City Campus.

Newcastle has an airport operating international and domestic flights to/from cities including London, Birmingham, Dubai and Amsterdam. From the airport, you can take a taxi (about 20 minutes) or the Green Line Metro to South Hylton and then walk (the total journey will take about 30 minutes). Alternatively, Northumbria University also operates a meet and greet service at the airport – find out more here.
The city is also on a mainline train route with fast trains from London taking approximately 3 hours.
