Applying via an Education Agent

You may choose to apply to Northumbria University through one of QA Higher Education’s (QAHE) approved international representatives or education agents. Using an education agent is entirely optional, and students may choose to apply directly to the university at any time.

Our approved education agents are organisations that have been authorised by QAHE and/or Northumbria University to provide information and guidance to prospective students. Approved agents receive training and regular updates on our programmes, admissions processes, and entry requirements, enabling them to support students throughout the application journey.

To help ensure you receive accurate information and guidance, we recommend that you only work with education agents officially authorised by QAHE and/or Northumbria University, you can view our database of trusted agents here. We cannot verify the advice provided by unauthorised representatives and are not responsible for information or services offered by agents who are not part of our approved network.

What is an education agent?

Education agents and counsellors support you throughout the process of applying to study in the UK. They will work with you to understand your course options, visa requirements (where applicable), and help you with your application to Northumbria University.

Agents can provide guidance and support, but all admissions and visa decisions (where applicable) are made by the relevant authorities and institutions.

 

What is the process?

Once you decide on an agent you would like to use, you should have a one-to-one session with your agent to talk about your background and goals and what study options are available to you.

Once you decide on the course you would like to study, make sure you can meet the entry requirements and understand your options.

Agents can help you gather your documents, help you write your personal statement, review your application and make sure you meet any deadlines. Some agents may submit your application on your behalf or can guide you through the process.

Once you receive your offer, your agent can explain the next steps.

Many approved agents receive regular updates on admissions and visa requirements and can help students understand the latest guidance. They can help you understand the visa application process and the documents that may be required, they can also practice visa interviews with you if needed.

Once you have your offer and visa confirmed, your agent can give you advice on accommodation and travel. They may also provide you with some guidance on the culture and student life in the UK.

What to expect when using an agent:

  • When using an education agent, you should expect support and guidance.
  • Your agent should provide information about available study options, entry requirements and living and studying in the UK.
  • They can help prepare any documents required for your application, such as transcripts and references.
  • They can complete and submit your application on your behalf (if you wanted them to).
  • They can review applications and supporting documents before submission.
  • Your agent should provide clear explanations, honest advice, and ongoing support throughout the application process. They can contact us on your behalf.

 

Choosing the right education agent is an important part of your application journey.
