About: Rachael began teaching in 2008 in Madrid, Spain After completing her Masters in 2018, she began working in the higher education sector in Newcastle and joined the Northumbria International Pathways program (IFP) in 2021. Since starting on the IFP, she has worked on creating materials that incorporate technology to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes.  

In her new role as Senior Module Lead for Academic Practice her aim is to develop material and assessments that support students’ academic literacies to enable them to fully engage in their learning and development  

Interests and hobbies: In her free time, she enjoys cycling, running, and listening to podcasts from the BBC and NPR.
Notable Research Projects and/or publications: Rachael has two main research and professional development interests: dialogic reflective practices and how they can foster a collaborative learning environment, and how synchronous and asynchronous feedback is packaged, decoded and actioned by students.
