Academic Lead in Pathway College
Brian’s current position is Academic Lead at Northumbria University for the Pathway College which involves working with the Programme Leads and teachers on the International Foundation Programme, Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma programmes. Brian is passionate about developing teaching materials and enhancing his own teaching skills and experience, particularly within the realm of online learning and is dedicated to teaching International Students within HE institutions.
His extensive teaching experience has involved the teaching and testing of all academic English skills incorporating; reading, writing, listening and speaking to international students on preparatory courses before the commencement of their university studies and during their undergraduate and post-graduate degree programmes within various faculties and schools at Newcastle and now at Northumbria University. In addition, he has also developed materials and pedagogy for online English language materials and has an ongoing interest in this area.
After undergraduate study he worked in various positions within the banking and finance and television industry as an Information Researcher. This has enabled him to understand the value of quality research and he has been able to put his experience into study skills modules for university students to help them develop better critical understanding of data.
